Magickal Quidditch Socks

Slipstitch colorwork socks knit from the cuff down with heel flap and gusset. A tribute to the Quidditch players of Harry Potter’s Wizarding World, or to any sock-loving Muggle.

Techniques Used: Long-tail cast on, slipstitch colorwork in two patterns, knit/purl, grafting.

Experience Level: Intermediate. This pattern contains full written instructions, as well as charts for the slipstitch colorwork.

Size: S (M, L): 60 (68, 76) st; to fit 10 (11, 12)” calf, Women’s US 6/7 (8/9, 10/11) shoe size.

Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Sock (100% super wash merino wool, 395 yards), 1 skein MC, 1 skein CC. Shown in Baltic (MC) and Ginger (CC).

Other Materials:

US 1 (2.25 mm) DPNs or 32” circular needle if using Magic Loop method, or size to match gauge.

Yarn needle.

Stitch markers (3).

Gauge: 34 st x 48 rows/4” in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

36 st x 48 rows/4” in Checkerboard slipstitch pattern, after blocking.

34 st x 68 rows/4” in Diamond Stripe slipstitch pattern, after blocking.
